Cody Ray Wheeler was born in Dalhart, Texas and moved to Pasadena at the age of six following his father’s work in the petrochemical industry. He is the product of a proud and humble working class family that emphasized the value of family, faith, hard-work, and fairness.
Upon graduating high school, Cody made the commitment to serve his country and community in the United States Marine Corps (2003-2007). He served with Alpha Battery 1st Battalion 10th Marines and Echo Battery 2nd Battalion 10th Marines. While in the Marines, he grew as a person, a man, and a leader. Cody deployed twice to Iraq (2005, 2006). In addition to achieving the rank of Sergeant in merely 3 years, Cody was decorated with the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Iraq Campaign Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (2nd award), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the National Defense Ribbon. Cody was also a 2nd award rifle expert.
